Uninstalling programs from a windows machine is a dirty business. Quite often bundled uninstallers can leave behind files and registry keys which are now useless and take up space or interfere with other programs still on your computer.

Enter Revo Uninstaller. This program helps manage your uninstalls and cleans up after them. First, it runs the uninstall process bundled with the program as normal. After that is done, the real strength of this utility kicks in. For its next trick, it scans your registry for any left-over values and gives you the option to delete them. Make sure you double check what is listed before deleting anything. If you are unsure of whether or not your machine will become unstable if the value is deleted, leave it alone. Now that the registry is cleaned, time to remove files. Revo does a similar scan for left-over files, then supplies a similar window for deleting them.

I have only ever used the free version, but the paid version seems to have some nice features.  According to the website the scanning engine uses a more advanced algorithm.  This leaves me thinking about the accuracy of the free version, but so far it has not let me down.  Also, it appears as though the paid version is the only way to get this program in 64-bit flavor, for most people they do not need this.  The only other thing I can see that the paid version gets you is enhanced visual effects.  Again, most people will not need their uninstaller to look pretty.

Ever since I found this program, it has been an invaluable addition to my IT toolbox. As an IT professional, I uninstall a lot of programs and Revo Uninstaller has uninstalled many headaches from these tasks.
