It’s Geektime originally started with just John and I writing articles about stuff we like.  We would go long stretches without any new content, and life was good.  We always intended to add more to our writing “staff”, but we never fully got around to it.

Back in June, my friend Dan decided to take an interest in the IGT site.  He wrote us a great article about the movie Jonah Hex.  Since then,  Dan has written more reviews and started the Geek Op op-ed column.  As a professional writer, Dan brings a lot of talent to the team.  Worth as much to me as his writing skills, Dan keeps hounding me about getting things done.  Dan’s motivation (some might call it harassment) has helped me keep a fairly steady amount of articles coming your way.

Another person that expressed interest in writing for IGT was our friend Jess.  Jess is a professional journalist and all around badass chick. We were excited about having her on the team too.  Unfortunately, Jess got busy doing this whole wedding thing, so she did not have time to contribute.  Recently, however, she has found some free time and has begun writing for us.  She has started a column that we have wanted since day 1, The Geek’s Girl.  This column doubles as a woman’s perspective on the world of geek and an advice column for women dealing with geeks and geeks dealing with non-geeks.

Gathering all these contributors into a staff is a new type of challenge for me.  I am a programmer/IT professional by trade, not a manager type.  I am more comfortable dealing with the technical aspects of the site than coordinating people.  We have recently set an update schedule for the regular columns to help in organizing this chaos.

I am eager to tackle this new type of challenge.  I hope we can all keep the pace up and the flow smooth for you all to get your weekly geek dose from us here at IGT.
